ASK-THE-EXPERT
- I take care of a lady with Parkinson's disease. Is exercise (very light) beneficial for patients like her? I thought that we could work on a few leg and arm exercises to strengthen the parts she can and will move.
- I am about to begin caring for my mother at home. She had a stroke about two months ago and remains incontinent. We plan to change her diapers or have them changed as often as needed (as soon as they are wet or at a frequency of every two hours or so), but what about nighttime? Should I get up at night to do this, or can the task be left until first thing in the morning?
- My father has type 2 diabetes. He is 76 years old. He has had progressive loss of his hearing for years. Now he is having difficulty with balance. When he closes his eyes, he cannot maintain balance. Can the diabetes affect balance in this manner?
